Fun Family Outings

Last weekend my family and I spent the day in downtown Austin TX.  It was the weekend of SXSW.  It was lots of fun.  We did not have bracelets so we enjoyed some free music.  One of the first places we visited was Cheapo.  This is a used CD resale store that my husband and oldest son frequent often.  There was a band from Japan named the Zoobombs, a Japanese indie rock band.

Just down the block we saw Ryan DeSiato (now I'm not sure I'm spelling his name right.)playing his guitar.  Devan thought he was great.

On our way to our next stop and the whole reason for the outing we found this little fellow in front of a restaurant.

Don't pay any attention to the guy in the back.
Our next stop was Neon Trees.  Yes, Devan had been waiting all week to see them and was so excited.  They were playing right outside of Waterloo Records and 24 Diner.  24 Diner is a great restaurant by the way.  I love their food.  Especially their French Toast oh and their hamburgers are great also.  You just have to check it out for yourself.  It is delicious!!!  We had to wait a little while and of course the littlies had to have a potty break.  We walked to Whole Foods.  I just love that store.  It is just so lively there and of course the food samples are delicious.  The boys went away happy with some cups of ice cream.

Michael and Devan were up close and personal while the little ones and I enjoyed the concert from a bench in front of 24 Diner.  After a little while I found Coen with his face glued to the window looking into the restaurant.  That was embarrassing. :/ I hope he remembers not to do it again should the opportunity arise.  Then we just walked around and enjoyed the day.

The boys were a little tired by now.

I'm putting my photography class to use here.  Can you tell?

And here.  I should have gotten a little closer.

I tried to do a silhouette here.

My little monkeys.
I forgot to mention that I was able to get some girl time in.  I visited The Khazana.  This place had some great furniture.  I really liked this sofa I saw.  It was linen with turquoise piping.  It has some great character although I didn't see it on their website.  I wish I had taken a picture of it.  Just imagine it.  Maybe I'll go back and take a picture.

Pretty Picture

I sure like this picture that I spotted.  I love to bake.  I started baking when I was a little girl.  I would try to make cakes from scratch.  I remember one of the batters not coming out right and starting all over.  I still love to bake.  So when I saw this picture I fell in love.  I love the cake stands, the styling and most of all the sweets!  I wish I was in this room.  I set this picture as the background on my computer.  It makes me smile.  :)

Sweet & Saucy Supply Shop sells cake stands, domes, cupcake liners among other things.  Visit their site.  I have a weak spot for most of the things they sell.  What a treat!

Anthropologie

Last Friday I decided to visit Anthropologie.  That store makes me smile.  I love all the creativity in that place.  I spotted this cute Winking Wisecracker Jar.  She would look darling on my kitchen counter top.  Don't you think?

I bought this melon latte bowl.   I love the color.  It made me want to go out and buy something orange in my home.  I went home and placed some oranges in a seafoam latte bowl and placed it on the center of my dining table.  It's simple and it makes me smile when I see it.

I'm glad spring is around the corner.  I love all the bright colors.

Hello...

It's been a while hasn't it?  I just have not had time to hop on the computer and blog.  I've also been trying not to spend so much time on the computer.  I thought I would take it easy for a while.

Well I have taken my first photography class!  Yay!!:)  I took a class from Amber at Sprout Imagery.  Take a look at her work here.  She did a great job teaching us the basics.  I still need a lot of practice though.  I did have a hard time getting my brain wrapped around shutter and aperature.  My friend Leilani who happens to be a photographer herself helped me understand shutter a bit better.  I just need to practice to see the effects on my pictures.
Speaking of Leilani she was so kind and mentioned my blog on her blog, According to Lei.  Thank you Leilani.  I do love her.  She is quite a talented person.  She is now a guest blogger on Brown Paper Packages.  She will be giving photography tips there.  Take a look.  I liked how thorough she was at explaining the importance of lighting.  I can't wait for the next one.  See the post here.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love Scrabble Cheese Its.

Ethan made this heart when it snowed about a week ago.

Happy Valentine's Day

It's not too late to send an e-valentine.  Visit Kate Spade(click on the pink words).  I have already sent some out to friends and loved ones.  Take a look.  You will be pleased.  They also have this section called "Things We Love"Hop on over to their website.

I thought I'd share something that I love.  I love the SKY.  I love how each night it is different.  I love the beautiful colors it shows.  I am always in awe when I look at the evening sky.  It is humbling and a time that I feel calm and at peace.  I truly love it!

Driving home.  Picture taken by Ethan.

I love the cloud formation.  This was taken in the Fall at a UT game.  It was Ethan's first time at a football game.

This post turned out to be a love post. :)  What do you love?

A day in Salado Texas

My husband took me to Salado TX for the day yesterday.  It was his Valentine's Day gift to us.  We left early and spent the day walking down Main Street and visiting the shops.  I loved how small the town felt and how it seemed that everyone knew eachother.  The stores were just darling.  I came across some cute items.  Look at the peacocks that were displayed outside The Howling Wolf.

My husband loved the juke box they had in the store.

The Coyote Glass Gallery had a large heart displayed outside.

Do you see the glass art displayed in front of the store?

So we decided to have our picture taken in front of it.

The sun is in our face.  It's the only picture of the two of us.

My most favorite store in Salado was the Garden Sprits.  The gentleman in the store made the aprons himself and they also make most of the soaps themselves.  I was in love.  I took my time looking at all the little details.  They sell aprons, dish towels, quilts, hats and soaps to name a few.  I bought this fabric and this darling bird.

Garden Sprits
In front of the apron is a butterfly mobile.  Darling!
If you live in or around Austin, you should take the time to visit Salado.  I enjoyed our day together.  Thank you for the day Michael!
